HAT YAI, 31 July 2024. Course Participants (CP) of MCSCJ Serial 53/2024 were honoured to attend a lecture by Professor Srisompob Jitpiromsri from Prince of Songkla University (PSU). The lecture entitled “𝑴𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒂-𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑩𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝑺𝒆𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒚 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕: 𝑨 𝑪𝒂𝒔𝒆 𝑺𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒚 𝒐𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑰𝒎𝒑𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒔 𝒐𝒇 𝑷𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝑻𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑬𝑪𝑬𝑹-𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒏 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔,” provided a comprehensive analysis on peace processes in Southern Thailand and their potential economic impacts.
Professor Jitpiromsri explored the complex dynamics of the peace process, highlighting how successful negotiations could improve the socio-economic landscape of the region. He discussed the economic benefits of peace, including significant spillovers that could boost both local and regional economies.
A key point of the lecture was the strategic importance of the Land Bridge Corridor to the Gulf of Thailand. The lecture was divided into two segments: an informative presentation by Professor Jitpiromsri and an interactive forum where participants was given the opportunity to be engaged in the discussions.
As a token of appreciation, Brigadier General Zamsari bin Abu Hassan, Commandant of MAFSC, presented tokens of gratitude to Professor Jitpiromsri for his valuable contributions and insights based on his perspective.
