KUANTAN, 19th August 2024. The Northern Capabilities and Operational Study (NCOS) East Visit, part of the Malaysian Command and Staff Course (Joint) Serial 53/2024, commenced today, August 19th, 2024. This visit is led by Chief Directing Staff, Kol Sukiman bin Mohamed Ghani, involving 14 Faculty Members/Directing Staff and 90 Course Participants.
The focus of the visit was on understanding the Malaysian Armed Forces’ joint capabilities and operational readiness in the North of Peninsular Malaysia, with an emphasis on the East Coast region.
Day one of the program began with a visit to Joint Force Headquarters (JFHQ) in Kuantan. Participants received comprehensive briefings on capabilities and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations from Kept Mohamad Hasli bin Abu Hassan TLDM and Kol (Dr) Mohd Jeffry bin Jalaluddin. Chief of Staff of the Joint Force Headquarters, Mejar Jeneral Dato’ Hj Fazal bin Hj Abdul Rahman, was also present to share his experiences and insights. Meanwhile, the Oversea Course Participants incredibly delighted with their visit to Sungai Lembing Museum, displaying history of the underground tin ore mining prior 1984 which was one of the historical spots near Kuantan.
Further insights were gained at the Dewan Remilis, 12 Royal Malay Regiment (Mech), where the roles and capabilities of 4 Brigade (Mech) were explained. Following a briefing by Chief of Staff, Lt Kol Mohd Zuraidi bin Zainal Abidin, participants had the opportunity to visit and observe the available HADR assets. The briefings and tours provided the Course Participants with a deeper understanding of HADR operations, with a particular focus on the East Coast region.
