PUTRAJAYA – 30th August 2024, the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC) successfully culminated the Field Research on Malaysian Security and Development (MSDS) Studies with a central presentation at Hikmat Hall. This year’s general theme was “Malaysia-Thailand Border Security & Development (SecDev): A Case Study on the Impacts of SecDev in the East Corridor Economic Region (ECER)-Southern Thailand Region”. Gracing the occasion was the MAFSC Commandant, Brig Jen Zamsari bin Abu Hasan. Also present were the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Management & Defence Studies NDUM, Professors and a line up of Lecturers, Faculty Members/Directing Staff and stakeholders from related agencies to witness the presentation.
Prior to commencing the session, the Academic Coordinator, Kol Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Zaini bin Salleh (Retired), refined the study’s background and objectives, which form part of the final requirement for the Malaysian Security and Development Studies (MSDS) course.
The three syndicate selected presenters, comprehensively showcased their analysis on ECER and Southern Thailand’s traditional and non-traditional threats, came up the suggested course of action plans and policies to address those vulnerabilities and challenges. These were bolstered by the implementation of the Security Impact Analysis Model (SIAM) in accordance with the National Security Policy (NSP). Through those active interactions, not only were the students furnished with the basic knowledge over the SecDev, instead they also gained first-hand experience towards their journey of becoming mediators of the Whole of Government, Whole of Society (WoGoS) indirectly contributing added values in the military services entirely.
During the event finale, the winner’s trophy and certificates were presented to Syndicate 3 as a Cohort 53/2024 winner. Prior to the closing of the event, there was a photo session for commemoration.
