PUTRAJAYA 11th October 24, The Malaysian Command and Staff Course (Joint) Serial 53/2024 celebrated the National Foundation Day Of Korea held at Hikmat Hall, MAFSC, PUSPAHANAS. This celebration was held in conjunction with the National Foundation Day Of Korea, which is celebrated on 3rd of October annually.
Diplomatic relations between Malaysia and South Korea were established on 23rd February 1960. This marked the beginning of a strong bilateral relationship that has continued to grow over the decades. By elevating bilateral ties to a strategic partnership, it will further promote and revitalise mutually beneficial exchanges in various areas, including diplomacy, defence, economy and culture.
In 1980, the first officer from South Korea joined the MAFSC. This was the start of a very significant relationship between Malaysia and South Korea in the context of military education and training. This early participation had fostered the spirit of cooperation in defence and security matters. A total of 48 South Korea course participants from different branches of the South Korean military have attended the MAFSC since that initial participation, shows the varied representation of the Republic of Korea Armed Forces, including 𝐌𝐚𝐣 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 𝐒𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐞𝐨𝐥 and 𝐋𝐭 𝐂𝐝𝐫 𝐀𝐡𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐥 𝐖𝐨𝐨.
The National Foundation Day of Korea Celebration commenced at 1130 with the arrival of Kol Sukiman bin Mohamed Ghani, the Deputy Commandant. Then there was the Country Brief by the Course Participants, a cake-cutting ceremony and finally an exchange of mementos.
The event concluded with the Deputy Commandant adjourning from the hall at 1215.
