PORT DICKSON, 18th – 20th October 2024: The Malaysia Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC) Faculty Members/Directing Staffs (FM/DS) participated in the Outcome Based Education (OBE) Workshop which was organised by the National Defence University of Malaysia (NDUM). The workshop was held at Thistle Hotel, Port Dickson involving 31 FM/DS and 20 NDUM Lecturers. The main objective was to continuously improve the quality of learning outcomes for the Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic and Defence Studies programme inline with the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) requirements.
The workshop began with the opening ceremony officiated by Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Ahmad Mujahid bin Ahmad Zaidi, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Internationalisation). Following that, Prof. Dr. Mohd Abdullah bin Jusoh provided a detail briefing on OBE, explaining the latest requirements for curriculum development in accordance with the Malaysian Qualification Framework (MQF) 2nd Edition. The participants were then engaged in hands-on activities, focusing on producing the necessary documents to support the curriculum review process.
The final outcomes were presented to both Brig Gen Zamsari bin Abu Hasan, Commandant of MAFSC and the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic and Internationalisation). Key areas addressed in the review include the restructuring of Programme Educational Objectives (PEO), Program Learning Outcomes (PLO) and the overall course curriculum enhancement. The workshop achieved its goals by refining course structures, improving methodologies and ensuring stronger alignment between the NDUM academic programme and MAFSC needs. The collaboration between MAFSC FM/DS and NDUM Lecturers was highlighted as a significant factor which contributed to the workshop’s success.
