PUTRAJAYA, 14 Nov 24 – The third and final Officer’s Leadership and Ethics Module (OLEM 3) for the Malaysian Command and Staff Course Joint Serial 53/2024 is drawing to a close this week. This important module plays a vital role in shaping and refining the Command Philosophy of the Course Participants (CP), preparing them for future command roles or joint planning appointments upon graduation from the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College (MAFSC).
In his presentation β€˜π‘°π’Žπ’‘π’π’†π’Žπ’†π’π’•π’‚π’•π’Šπ’π’ 𝒐𝒇 π‘¬π’‡π’‡π’†π’„π’•π’Šπ’—π’† π‘³π’†π’‚π’…π’†π’“π’”π’‰π’Šπ’‘β€™, Brigadier General Amer Mahmud bin Abdul Rahman RMAF outlined his Command Philosophy, which is firmly rooted in the principles of mission accomplishment while upholding the core values that define military excellence. He underscored that the success of a squadron in fulfilling its mission directly contributes to the broader objectives of the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF). Competence and job satisfaction are derived from the diligent execution of one’s duties, with the ultimate aim being the successful completion of the mission.
At the heart of Brigadier General Amer’s philosophy is the mantra, “𝑫𝒐 π’Šπ’• π’“π’Šπ’ˆπ’‰π’•.” He emphasised the critical importance of strict adherence to laws, rules, procedures, and regulations while ensuring the highest ethical and moral standards guide all actions. If mistakes occur, they must be swiftly addressed and corrected. A disciplined culture fosters safety, justice, fairness, and ultimately high morale within the unit, reinforcing the essential foundation of effective leadership. He concluded by stating that the core of his leadership philosophy is encapsulated in the simple but profound directive, “π‘¨π’„π’„π’π’Žπ’‘π’π’Šπ’”π’‰π’Šπ’π’ˆ 𝒐𝒖𝒓 π’Žπ’Šπ’”π’”π’Šπ’π’, 𝒕𝒉𝒆 π’“π’Šπ’ˆπ’‰π’• π’˜π’‚π’š.” Every decision, he asserted, must be anchored in the RMAF’s core valuesβ€”π‘°π’π’•π’†π’ˆπ’“π’Šπ’•π’š, π‘ͺπ’π’–π’“π’‚π’ˆπ’†, 𝑬𝒙𝒄𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆, π‘¬π’”π’‘π’“π’Šπ’• 𝒅𝒆 π‘ͺ𝒐𝒓𝒑𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 π‘Ίπ’†π’“π’—π’Šπ’„π’† 𝑩𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒍𝒇 to ensure that the unit remains firmly focused on its objectives while operating at the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct.
As the session concluded, course participants were not only inspired by Brigadier General Amer’s clarity and conviction of insights but also invigorated with a renewed sense of purpose and readiness. Armed with these key takeaways, they now stand prepared to take on their future command responsibilities, ready to lead with integrity, uphold the highest ethical standards, and drive their units to mission success, all while embodying the core values that define the Malaysian Armed Forces.
