PUTRAJAYA 15th Nov 24, The Malaysian Command and Staff Course (Joint) Serial 53/2024 celebrated The Independence Day of Cambodia at Hikmat Hall, MAFSC, PUSPAHANAS. This celebration was held in conjunction with the Independence Day of Cambodia, which is celebrated on 9th Nov annually.
Diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Cambodia were established on 31 August 1957. This marked the beginning of a strong bilateral relationship that has continued to grow over the decades. Elevating bilateral ties to a strategic partnership will further promote and revitalise mutually beneficial exchanges in various areas, including diplomacy, defence, economy and culture.
In 2003, the first officer from Cambodia joined the MAFSC. This started a significant relationship between Malaysia and Cambodia in the context of military education and training. This early participation also fosters a spirit of cooperation in defence and security. Since that initial participation, 17 Cambodian Course Participants from the Royal Cambodian Army have attended the MAFSC, which shows the varied representation of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, including 𝐌𝐚𝐣 𝐌𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐡.
Cambodia’s Independence Day commenced at 1130 with Brig Jen Zamsari bin Abu Hasan, Commandant of the Malaysian Armed Forces Staff College, arriving. Then, the course participants gave a Country Brief, there was a cake-cutting ceremony, and finally, there was an exchange of mementos.
The event concluded with the Commandant adjourning from the hall at 1215.
